ASRock Expands PSU Portfolio with CES 2026 Innovations
ASRock is set to bolster its power supply unit (PSU) lineup ahead of the 2026 International CES, introducing several new models designed for optimal performance and reliability. The company’s commitment to meeting evolving demands in high-performance computing is evident across a range of product categories.
L-Type Modular Cable – Enhanced Thermal Protection
A central focus of the showcased products is the new 12V-2x6 L-type modular PSU cable. This cable utilizes 16 AWG wires for its primary power connections, offering a generous 70 cm length. Designed to meet ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 CEM specifications, it delivers continuous output of 600W. Crucially, the cable incorporates an overheat protection (OTP) system.
The OTP functionality activates when temperature sensors detect a critical threshold within the connector. Upon detection, the PSU automatically shuts down, preventing potential damage to sensitive components like graphics cards. This proactive safety measure demonstrates ASRock’s commitment to safeguarding user investments.
PRO Series PSUs – Mainstream Performance
ASRock's PRO series PSUs remain a core component of their offerings, providing robust performance for mainstream systems. The lineup includes 850W (600W 12V-2x6), 750W (450W 12V-2x6), and 650W (450W 12V-2x6) models, all certified to meet ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 requirements. These units achieve 80 Plus Gold switching efficiency, optimizing energy consumption.
Steel Legend Platinum Series – Premium Modular Design
Above the PRO series, ASRock’s Steel Legend Platinum PSUs represent a premium tier, featuring full modular cabling options. Available in 850W, 1000W, and 1200W models, each offers a 600W-capable 12V-2x6 configuration. These units achieve 80 Plus Platinum switching efficiency alongside Cybenetics Platinum and A acoustics for reduced noise.
Phantom Gaming SFX Series – Compact Cooling
For smaller form factor builds, ASRock's Phantom Gaming (SFX) series provides powerful PSU solutions. The 850W and 1000W models incorporate 600W 12V-2x6 connectivity, along with connector OTP, 92mm cooling fans, and a 5V rail power boost for enhanced compatibility.
The inclusion of connector OTP in the Phantom Gaming series highlights ASRock’s dedication to addressing potential thermal issues within compact systems. The larger 1200W model notably delivers power through two independent 600W 12V-2x6 channels, providing flexibility for multi-GPU configurations.
