Gaming Splitgate Developer 1047 Games is Working on a New Movement Shooter Inspired by Titanfall and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 David Carcasole • at EDT Add on Google Splitgate developer 1047 Games has revealed it is working on a new movement shooter inspired by Titanfall and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Ian Proulx, co-founder and chief executive officer of 1047 Games, the studio behind Splitgate, had a small addendum to the studio's latest update video where it provided the remaining Splitgate players news and updates about the game. While Proulx began by reassuring fans of the portal shooter that it is "obviously, the focus," he went on to confirm that the studio is looking to fulfill its dream of being a multi-game studio. To that end, "a small section of the team" has been siloed off to start working on what Proulx called a "movement shooter," and specifically called out Titanfall and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, telling players that if they are fans of either of those games, 1047 would like them to sign up to potentially take part in future playtests that will begin soon. Related Story 1047 Games Makes a (Final?) Bid to Keep Splitgate: Arena Reloaded Alive With New Arena Royale Mode"Obviously, Splitgate is the focus, but there is one more thing I want to add," Proulx begins. "This is actually unrelated to Splitgate, and more just 1047 news. We have always had the dream to be a multi-game studio. Obviously, I love Splitgate, it's genuinely my favourite game of all time, and we're not shy about where we took inspiration there, with Halo and Portal being two of my all-time favourites." "But there's other games and other dream games that we love. So, I'm not here to talk too much about that today, but I just want to give the community a heads up. We've had a small section of the team start working on a new game in addition to Splitgate. I'm not here to share too much about that, but what I will say is that it is a movement shooter, and if you're a fan of games like Titanfall, or [Call of Duty] Black Ops 3, we would love to hear from you. We're going to take sign-ups below so that we can start playtesting soon." While the first iteration of Splitgate found some success at launch, it wasn't able to retain a strong player base, and 1047 Games looked to do better with a sequel, initially called Splitgate 2. The sequel had an abysmal launch, and 1047 took it offline with plans to relaunch it. The relaunch, you may be surprised to learn, did not suddenly turn Splitgate into a hit under its new name, Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, which is described more as a combination of the two games rather than something separate from the first. Sort of like Blizzard going back to calling it just Overwatch, but without the industry-changing success along the way. That said, there are still hundreds of players who sign on to play Splitgate every day, as 1047 continues to try its best to keep the game alive and hopefully give it the redemption arc it hopes it will have. Of course, we don't know what the future holds for 1047 Games, but we'll see if this new shooter, if it ever reaches public eye, will be something capable of putting the studio on the map in a more positive way.
