Intel’s ‘Battlemage’ Arc B770 BIOS Update Surfaces in Driver Package Leak

A recently discovered Intel driver package, linked to the upcoming ‘Panther Lake’ laptop processors, contains a firmware update designated as ‘BMG-G31.’ This codename has repeatedly surfaced, fueling speculation surrounding Intel’s highly anticipated Arc B770 graphics card. The leak suggests an imminent release of consumer-level hardware leveraging 32 Xe2 cores and 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM, potentially representing a significant step up from previous Arc offerings.

The ‘BMG-G31’ designation has been circulating within the tech community for some time, initially linked to a rumored ‘Battlemage’ gaming graphics card model slated for potential unveiling at CES 2026. However, despite considerable anticipation, keynote presentations and exhibition displays during the event failed to showcase new Xe2 dGPU content.

While Intel has been actively focusing on its ‘Panther Lake’ mobile chips and the adjacent ‘Wildcat Lake’ APU – introduced with minimal fanfare – the driver package leak indicates ongoing development for a consumer-focused ‘BMG-G31’ graphics product. Rumors previously pointed toward a fourth quarter 2025 release, potentially targeting a 300W TDP rating and featuring a substantial upgrade over the existing Arc B580. This proposed configuration would include 32 Xe2 cores alongside 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM – a notable increase in memory capacity.

The ‘Arc B580’ currently offers 12 GB of GDDR6, and this new iteration aims to address performance limitations observed in earlier Arc models. The potential specifications suggest an attempt by Intel to establish a more competitive position within the mainstream gaming graphics market.
