The final season of Stranger Things has concluded, marking an end to a cultural phenomenon. While the series' early seasons captivated audiences with their Spielbergian charm, its later iterations became increasingly complex. However, for those who still crave more encounters with Vecna and the gang’s elaborate plans, Dead by Daylight offers a continuing narrative through its latest crossover event.

Stranger Things: Chapter 2 Arrives

Titled Stranger Things: Chapter 2, this collaboration expands upon the existing partnership between Behaviour Interactive and Netflix. It introduces three more playable characters from the Duffer Brothers’ series to join Steve and Nancy, who were initially added in 2019. Players can now step into the roles of Eleven and Dustin as survivors, while the formidable Vecna makes his debut as a brand-new killer.

Vecna's Powers and Survivor Abilities

As the killer, Vecna wields his dimension-manipulating powers to traverse the map undetected via the Upside Down. He can then abruptly reappear in reality, posing a significant threat to survivors. His arsenal also includes fleshy vines that he can use to ensnare unsuspecting players.

Eleven and Dustin aren't defenseless, however. Each survivor possesses unique skills to aid their survival against Vecna’s relentless pursuit. Dustin has the ability to booby-trap windows after completing repairs, providing a potential escape route. Eleven utilizes her extrasensory perception, allowing her to detect auras from a greater distance after briefly crouching.

Cosmetic Upgrades and Past Crossovers

The new chapter also includes two legendary outfits for Dead by Daylight players. Dustin can adopt the iconic denim attire of the late metalhead Eddie Munson, while Nancy receives an outfit inspired by Steve’s close friend Robin Buckley. Eleven currently lacks a dedicated legendary outfit, but Steve retains his Jonathan Byers-themed appearance from the original collaboration.

The inclusion of Stranger Things characters is far from unusual for Dead by Daylight. The game has a history of embracing unexpected licensing crossovers. Just last May, characters from The Witcher joined the roster, followed by an August crossover featuring characters from Assassin's Creed Shadows.

Looking Ahead: Anniversary Celebrations and Quality-of-Life Improvements

As Dead by Daylight approaches its tenth anniversary in 2026, Behaviour Interactive has already teased special Collector’s Edition content and broader celebrations. The studio dedicated much of 2025 to a significant quality-of-life initiative aimed at addressing long-standing player concerns. This included the introduction of a surrender mode and enhanced measures to combat extreme hiding tactics.
