Embark Studios is refining ARC Raiders' Expedition system ahead of its second major reset, introducing two key adjustments designed to ease player frustration and broaden accessibility.
The game’s Expeditions act as a periodic reset—clearing workshops, player levels, skill points, blueprints, coins, and stash upgrades—before unlocking new rewards and buffs for the next cycle. With a 60-day preparation window, players must strategically gather resources to maximize their gains. The first Expedition launched on March 1, 2026, with a February 25 deadline for sign-ups.
In response to player feedback, Embark has reduced the stash value threshold required for the highest-tier rewards. Previously, reaching the cap demanded a substantial 4 million coins (800K per skill point). Now, players need only 3 million coins (600K per skill point) to unlock the full five skill points. This shift lowers the barrier for those who struggled to accumulate enough resources during the initial phase.
A second change introduces a catch-up mechanic tailored to players who fell short during the first Expedition. Those missing skill points can now reclaim them at a discounted rate—300K coins per point—before contributing to the second Expedition’s progression. The system ensures no player is permanently locked out of rewards, though the trade-off is a slower climb back to full potential.
For newcomers joining midway through, the second Expedition also retroactively unlocks rewards from the first, including permanent cosmetics, stash expansions, and temporary buffs like XP boosts and repair value increases. The rewards for the upcoming run include
- An Evolved Patchwork outfit (permanent)
- Scrappy cosmetics (permanent)
- Expedition Indicator Icon (permanent)
- 24 additional Stash Spaces (permanent)
- 0–5 skill points (permanent)
- 5–10% XP boost (consecutive)
- 6–12% Scrappy materials boost (consecutive)
- 60–70% repair value increase (consecutive)
The adjustments reflect a deliberate effort to balance progression and inclusivity. While the catch-up system softens the blow for late starters, the reduced stash cap may prompt some to prioritize efficiency over long-term hoarding. For players already invested in ARC Raiders, these tweaks could ease the grind—though whether they’ll translate to sustained engagement remains to be seen as the game’s second Expedition approaches.
Availability for the second Expedition is set for next month, with the catch-up mechanic and adjusted stash requirements now active.
